The number of ship types available, their armament, and the physical appearance under each class, is pending on the empire you play as. Each class contains a number of different ship types, with a total of 45 types. These classes are made purely for providing a rough overview and are not based on any particular Star Wars ship classification system. In SWFR, there are, what we consider to be, seven main ship classes. Just in case you forgot, we will just quickly go through the main points from the last dev diary. Instead, a short description of the classes themselves will provide an idea of the ship types available. That remains for you to discover in-game, once we go live. We will not go into detail about the weapons loadout or modules of each ship or its specific role in a fleet.
We do this to help you understand all the new ships that you might encounter in the fleet designer to prevent it from being overwhelming. Today, we will go a bit more in-depth with the new ship classes and provide an overview of the ship types related to each ship class. If you have not read the previous diary, where we explain the basics of the new ship classes and types as well as the technological requirements for unlocking new ships, please do so. Welcome to the follow-up diary about the new ship classes and types available in SWFR.
